Position Summary:

Local, private company specializing in Taft-Hartley trust fund administration is looking for the right Billing and Eligibility Manager to join a highly qualified team. You will manage, train and motivate a team of billing and eligibility representatives who focus on assisting plan participants, signatory employers, and local union. This department is responsibility for billing union negotiated fringe benefits for over 30,000 union members working for over 2,000 construction contractors in Southern California and Arizona. These employees are themselves represented by a union.  Work intimately with management, fund executives, auditors, actuaries, legal counsel, consultants; trust vendors and the trust fund to ensure satisfaction for all stakeholders.  Responsible for overseeing the administration of contribution accounting, enrollment and eligibility for variety of trust funds to ensure record keeping is done accurately and timely.

  • Monitor the quality and production of the staff.
  • Review and edit Trust communication relating to the collection and record keeping of employer and employee contributions.
  • Respond to benefit inquiries and resolve problems escalated by the billing and eligibility staff.
  • Attend and travel to business related meetings, seminars and events.
  • Implement and test modifications to the assigned Trust benefit plans.

Position Requirements:

Experience with contribution accounting, eligibility and enrollment administration.

  • Taft Hartley experience and/or experience in billing and eligibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree is greatly valued.
  • Demonstrate that you can clearly and effectively express in writing and verbally proper use of grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and spelling so that you are able to prepare business letters, memoranda and reports.
  • Function calmly in fast paced environment handling multiple priorities simultaneously with high level of detail orientation.
  • Excellent customer service skills both on the telephone and in person.
  • Positively and professionally manage challenging service situations.
  • Excellent keyboard skills with the, ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute.
  • Able to read, analyze, comprehend, and disseminate information from computer systems and legal documents.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Demonstrate the regular use of a time management process to work in an organized way; to work efficiently and effectively.
  • Able to lift, push, and pull up to 10 pounds.
  • Able to modify plans, actions, and decisions in light of changing situations and circumstances.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
